Photo shoot with Pam pam- Asian inspired vegan meals
Behind the Scenes: Food Photography and Styling for Pam Pam’s New Menu Launch
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Pamela from Pam Pam again for a menu refresh, particularly for her Asian-inspired vegan meals website. As a returning client, our previous collaboration helped streamline the creative process, and we were excited to deliver fresh visuals that reflect the vibrant energy of Pam Pam’s new menu.
Pre-Planning and Mood Board Creation
As with any successful food photography shoot, pre-planning is key. We started by creating a mood board to guide the overall aesthetic and tone for the shoot. This mood board was a collaborative effort between myself and Margaret, a talented food stylist, to ensure that every detail aligned with Pamela’s vision.
Pamela and her marketing team, including Kate, were actively involved in a series of meetings where we discussed the direction and feel of the shoot. From these discussions, we finalised the overall look: fresh, vibrant, warm and authentic, reflecting both the Asian-inspired flavors and the plant-based nature of the dishes.
Props and Backdrop Preparation
Once the vision was clear, it was time to source the necessary props and backgrounds to bring that vision to life. We ordered a few specialized backgrounds to match the theme, and I personally took the time to paint a large backdrop for the group shots. Margaret curated a beautiful collection of props—everything from textured plates to minimalist utensils—that complemented the look and feel of the menu.
The Two-Day Shoot
With the pre-planning done, we moved into the two-day shoot. Every aspect was meticulously planned, including a detailed shot list that covered everything from group shots for website headers to individual shots of each menu item. Our goal was to capture the essence of Pamela’s new offerings, ensuring that the photography was not only aesthetically pleasing but also showcased the textures, colors, and appeal of each dish.
The schedule allowed for plenty of time to photograph both the group shots and individual meals, as well as portrait shots of Pamela herself. These images will not only be used for the menu but also serve as part of her website's branding, giving a personal touch to her growing vegan empire.
Conclusion
The shoot was a great success, and working with returning clients like Pamela is always such a rewarding experience. The final images truly encapsulate the spirit of Pam Pam’s new Asian-inspired vegan menu, and I’m excited to see how they elevate her website and brand.
