Behind the Shoot: Bulla Creams in Culinary Spotlight
Recently, I had the pleasure of working on a food photography shoot that blended artistry, flavor, and storytelling in the most exciting way. The project was commissioned by Kim and Elecia of KlEOCOLLECTIVE, featuring Bulla’s sour cream and cooking cream in recipes tailored for the hospitality industry.
The goal? To visually showcase how these creams elevate dishes like butter chicken and creamy pasta—not just in taste, but in presentation.
Food stylist April Sharratt brought her signature magic to the shoot. Her attention to detail transformed each set into a visual narrative. We recreated two distinct dining experiences:
An Indian restaurant scene featuring rich, vibrant butter chicken plated with naan and rice, styled to evoke warmth and authenticity.
A fine-dining Italian setting with elegant pasta dishes, garnished with herbs and served on minimalist ceramics to highlight the cream’s luxurious texture.
April’s styling was immersive—every prop, plate, and garnish was chosen to reflect the story behind the dish.
Lighting the Mood
To complement the styling, I used large diffusion panels to create soft, natural lighting that wrapped around the dishes. This technique helped highlight the cream’s velvety texture and the richness of the sauces without harsh shadows. The result was a warm, inviting glow that made each dish look as appetizing as it tasted.
Bulla’s sour cream and cooking cream were the stars of the shoot. These products are instrumental in creating depth and richness in dishes like:
Butter Chicken: The cooking cream adds a smooth, mellow finish that balances the spices.
Creamy Pasta: The sour cream brings a tangy richness that elevates the sauce to restaurant-quality.
Our photography aimed to capture not just the final dish, but the role Bulla’s creams play in transforming everyday recipes into culinary experiences.
