Delving into the world of food styling

Food styling is something I was extremely passionate about in my daily life long before the art gained its well-deserved limelight and became an essential aspect of food photography. I have always been excited about presenting food in a way that makes it not only visually appealing but also inviting to eat and enjoy.

When the world of photography embraced this art, it became evident that food styling could not be ignored. An unappealing composition results in unappealing photos, regardless of perfect lighting. Without the right styling, photos lack the interest needed to capture the viewer's attention.

Food styling came naturally to me. I was drawn to color theory, and playing with props and composition was incredibly fun. It allowed me to create a story with each photo. For me, food styling is an art that perfectly complements my photography skills, adding depth and creativity to every shot.

I was fortunate to have my natural skills honed by partnering with creative stylists and learning from their online courses. I've incorporated these learnings into my service packages for food photography.

One of my achievements that I am extremely proud of is the opportunity to use my innate skills as a production stylist in one of the leading TV commercial campaigns – The Biggest Morning Tea Campaign.

Starting from curating props ( plates / cups / picnic stuffs/ boards ) / assorted food to complement / baking a rustic looking pecan pie and also creating the hand written note.

Not only did I put my food styling talent to use in helping to create two gorgeous cookbooks, but I also contributed right from brainstorming ideas to curating props and backgrounds. These achievements have helped me hone my skills, allowing me to confidently offer services and packages to clients along with my food photography skills.

Let me know if you have any exciting food styling shoots coming up. I’m happy to share my thoughts and collaborate to create some magic.
